Njoro was beaten to a pulp by the late Papa Shirandula over a silly mistake that he lives to remember.
Kenneth Gichoya alias Njoro and the late Charles Bukeko aka Papa Shirandula were best friends, however they once fought each other in a bloody fist fight.
Njoro reminisced about his late friend while speaking during an interview with NTV comedian Dr. Kingori.
He recalled how the late Bukeko picked him from the streets and landed him his first show on former Citizen TV drama series ‘Papa Shirandula’.
Njoro recalled how his late bestfriend even threatened to leave the hit TV series when directors planned to fire him from the show.
Bukeko was such an inspiration to Njoro that after his death he (Njoro) decided to call himself ‘Njoro Shirandula’ in remembrance of his late friend who was famously known as ‘Papa Shirandula’.
Even though Papa and Njoro were best of friends, they clashed a couple of times, one particular time they even fought each other.
“Tulishikana mangumi, lakini jioni tulikuwa tukisikiza rhumba pamoja! (We fought each other but in the evening we were listening to Rhumba),” said Njoro.
The comedian/actor said that he was embroiled in a physical altercation with his late friend in a bus because he drunk his water while they were traveling.
“Nilikunywa maji yake kwa basi tukitravel. Aliniwekelea, naminikamwekelea! Akaanza kutoa damu. (I started the fight by drinking his water in the bus when we were travelling in. He punched me and I punched him, he even bled)”.
Njoro said he was lucky to fight Papa in the bus otherwise the late actor would have beaten him silly were it in an open place. He said the fight was stopped by their boss who intervened.
“Our boss, (the director of Tahamaki) separated us. I was lucky we fought in the bus or he would have gotten the upper hand,” said Njoro.
