Jamal Gaddafi Joins 6 Other Celebs Who Have Quit Their Jobs To Vie In August 9th General Election

Jamal Gaddafi is the latest celeb to quit his job to join politics to contest in the August 9th general election has attracted so many celebrities.

Gaddafi announced his decision to quit KTN on Saturday January 29th as he bid his fans goodbye.

He announced that it was his last time hosting KTN’s Mzuqa TV show as he plans to join the politics ahead of the August general elections.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Jamal was in tears as he bid goodbye to his colleagues at the Standard Group media station and viewers who have supported his TV show for the last eight years.

“It’s time for a new adventure. Yesterday was my last show at KTN as I start a new chapter of my life in politics. What an epic 8 years? Thank you to everyone who supported me and my shows,” he said.

Gaddafi’s move to quit his job is in line with Media Council rules that require journalists vying for political seats to resign six months to the election date.

The 35-year-old TV host is joining politics where he is expected to vie for the Malindi parliamentary seat under the ODM party ticket.

Gaddafi previously expressed confidence that the would fly the ODM ticket noting that he would give his rivals a run for their money for the party’s ticket.

“I know ODM is a democratic party which will conduct free and fair primaries in which I am confident I will emerge the winner,” he said at a past interview.

Gaddafi joins others several celebs who have resigned or are in the process of resigning to join active politics, they include Jalang’o and Alex Mwakideu.

Celebs who have so far declared interest to contest for poltical seats include:

Jalang’o – Langata constituency (ODM)

Alex Mwakideu – a parliamentary seat in Taita Taveta county.

Prezzo – Kasarani constituency

Jaguar – Starehe constituency (UDA)

MC Jessy – Imenti South constituency (UDA)

DNG – Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course MCA seat (UDA)

Mcdonald Mariga – Kibra constituency (UDA)

Karen Nyamu – Nairobi senator (UDA)

Gospel singer Loise Kim – Kiambu Women Representative (UDA)

Gospel singer Reuben Kigame – to vie for presidency
