Charles Mugane: “Talanta Hela Is Illegitimate And Should Be Disbanded”

The procedure to pick Churchill, Kate, Wahu,Akothee, Azziad and others was shoddy and a clear abuse of power.

Charles Mugane claims that the committee, which is headed by comedian Daniel (Churchill) Ndambuki, is illegitimate and that individuals appointed to the committees were picked with minimal regard for “the idea of meritocracy” in the lawsuit filed by Mugane Advocates.

Charles continued by saying that because the appointments were done at the expense of the public involvement and minimal disposable funds, they violated the public trust that the Kenyan people had in them.

The petitioner further asserts that the appointments were made in contravention of Article 10 of the Constitution, which lays forth the guiding ideals and values of the country, including responsibility, openness, and good governance.

He claimed that the selecting process was poor and plainly displayed the abuse of authority and power by CS Ababu Namwamba.

The process did not go through a proper scrutiny and transparency he says.

Two technical committees, Sports and Creatives, make up the Talanta Hela council founded by Ababu Namwamba, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts.

Ababu himself will preside over the Council, which has a three-year term.
