Khaligraph Painfully Recalls How His Mom Intervened When DJ Pinye Was So Determined To Destroy Him Completely

Khaligraph Jones is still finding it very hard to let go the pain in him even though DJ Pinye apologized for what he did to him.

DJ Pinye, real name Peter Chuani, derailed Khaligraph’s music career and those of other musicians like DNA.

The mix master caused uproar in 2018 when he openly confessed that he never played songs by some Kenyan musicians on his ‘The Beat’ show because their content was mediocre.

“There are artists whose music I did not play back in the days, including Khaligraph and DNA, but their careers have grown… I cannot play Lamba Lolo or New Position. DJs shouldn’t play mediocre music,” said DJ Pinye in an interview with NRG radio.

What followed was an uproar, with DNA in particular dropping a diss track dubbed ‘Kapinye’.

Khaligraph fell short of dropping a diss track for DJ Pinye just because of the little respect he still had for him.

“I used to make mediocre music so he couldn´t play my mediocre music on his TV show. Buda ukona bahati siku hizi nimekua mpole kiasi na nina ka heshima flani otherwise diss track ingekua ishatembea sai. Watu wana sing along mbaya sana, mazishi ni ile ile,” Khaligraph wrote at the time.

In January 2019, DJ Pinye issued a public apology for derailing the careers of Khaligraph and other musicians.

“On my bdays, I usually reflect on alot of things about my life. Today, am thinking about my impact. My impact on other people’s lives specifically those in the music industry. One thing is clear, I am aware of my influence. I apologise to those who feel I played a part in derailing their music career. But I am not apologetic for the values and standards I uphold for our music industry. #itsmybirthday #foreveryoung #playgoodmusic,” wrote DJ Pinye.

However Khaligraph didn’t quite let go the bitter feelings he has towards DJ Pinye for what he did to him.

Khaligraph recently reflected on how DJ Pinye’s action made life hard for him while speaking during the listening party for his album ‘Invisible Currency’.

The rapper said his mother intervened and helped him with prayers when DJ Pinye denied him airplay.

“DJ Pinye used to oppress me and killed the motivation of very many artists. He killed a lot of dreams. My mum used to tell me ‘Leave DJ Pinye alone it is God who has put you here, your day will come. Look at me now. If it was not because of my mother’s prayers we would not be here,” said Khaligraph.
